'180 Degree Rule' garners award at Valladolid Int’l Film Festival

Iranian film '180 Degree Rule' wins at Valladolid Int’l Film Festival (Seminci) in Spain.

Iranian film '180 Degree Rule' has received an award at the 2020 Valladolid International Film Festival (Seminci) in Spain.    

'180 Degree Rule' AKA ‘180° Rule’, produced by Ali Mosaffa and directed by Farnoush Samadi, won the best film award at the Meeting Point (for first and second fiction films) section of the 65th edition of the Valladolid festival.

The flick features a tragedy that strikes at the heart of a wedding. It is about a school teacher who is preparing to attend a wedding ceremony but her husband suddenly forbids her to go. This makes her do something crazy that results in very bad consequences. 

Samadi’s feature directorial debut recently participated in the Discovery section of the 45th Toronto Int’l Film Festival (TIFF) and has been picked as the best film of the TIFF by the Seventh Row, a Canadian not-for-profit publication.   

The cast includes names such as Sahar Dolatshahi, Pejman Jamshidi, Hassan Pourshirazi and Azita Hajian.

'180 Degree Rule' was also screened at the 64th edition of the BFI London Film Festival in the UK.

Founded in 1956, the Valladolid International Film Festival is one of the oldest and most consolidated in the Europe

The festival was held on October 24-31, 2020.
